Lakeland Log & Timber Works is a small company and proud of it. Staying small allows us to maintain a personal approach to business, offering one-on-one service from design to completion. On average, we build 6 to 10 projects a year, ranging from 1,000 to 8,000 sq. ft. By keeping our production numbers small, we’re able to treat each handcrafted log home as an original piece of natural beauty. We’re also able to avoid the impersonal trappings of large scale manufacturing. We don’t want our homes to all look a like. We want to showcase the beauty of the logs. Why should we change the perfection nature has already provided? Lakeland Log & Timber Works has 25 years of experience in the building industry, from conventional building and energy efficient construction, to timber frame and log building, the latter two of which we’ve been doing exclusively for the last 8 years. We’ve experienced firsthand the complexities of matching conventional trades and building methods with log buildings, which means we have the knowledge you’ll need to design and construct your log home. We’ve also learned to produce some of the most energy efficient log buildings available on the market today, thanks to the variable climate in Northern Saskatchewan, which can range from 35C (95F) in the summer to -45C (-49F) in the winter. Northern Saskatchewan is also known for its towering white spruce, which means Lakeland Log has its own supply of the best building logs in the province. With its short growing season in the north, the white spruce has very tight growth rings and ranges from 10” to 24” in diameter with lengths of up to 60’. White spruce has a lot of character, which means so too will your handcrafted log home or furniture. Surrounded by lakes and forests, wildlife such as deer, moose and bear often wander through the log yard, demonstrating that the Lakeland facility is truly where work is just a natural state of mind.
