Handcrafted Log Homes
Handcrafted log homes are increasing in popularity because the natural size, shape and beauty of the logs are retained. Handcrafted log homes are created using whole round logs that are worked and placed by the hands of skilled artisans. Our craftspeople are such individuals. They’ve spent years perfecting their ability to cut, fit, scribe and notch each log. Compare this care to a manufactured log home where every home is a carbon copy of the next. Hand-crafted log homes are truly unique because the splendor of nature is an integral part of their design and construction. Lakeland’s log homes are available in spruce, pine, fir and cedar. The logs are seasoned for one year and then hand-peeled, scribed and cut by our craftspeople. The logs are then assembled at our 40 acre log building yard. Once the building is complete, the logs are sanded to 80 grit, labeled and then disassembled for shipment. At your building site, Lakeland’s craftspeople continue to oversee the production of your log home. They perform the set-up with the application of 2 rows of EM-seal and an expanding bed of foamspray throughout. The modified lateral groove used in the construction of our log homes provides one of the best sealed log buildings on the market today, without the use of caulking or chinking. Through rods, electrical outlets and drilling are also completed by our craftspeople. We’re with you from the very beginning to the glorious end. Handcrafted Rustic Furniture Lakeland provides handcrafted furniture to compliment the look of your log home or to simply add a rustic feeling to your conventional home or business. Furniture can be selected from our showroom or custom designed and made by our craftspeople. Either way, our furniture stands out as true originals. Our handcrafted furniture is crafted from spruce, pine, aspen, diamond willow oak and any number of other species when available. The natural beauty of the wood itself ensures a piece of furniture that will draw the eye, but it’s the respect of nature and the attention to detail from our craftspeople that truly makes each piece of furniture a work of art. Carving & Detailing While all of our handcrafted log homes are unique because of the natural originality of the wood itself, custom carving and detailing can be applied to beams and posts for a remarkable artistic flare. Carved posts can be selected from our seasoned inventory or custom designed on new posts and beams based on your specifications. Custom arches, character logs, log stairs & railings and custom detailing can also be created by our craftspeople. Post & Beam, Timber Frame Post and beam homes are a popular alternative to full fledged log home. With post and beam, the character of real logs is incorporated into conventional framed wall finishes. Lakeland can provide you with precut and pre-fit post and beam work. Since we have our own sawmill, we can also provide you with custom timbers, rough or smooth, of any size or length for your timber construction. Design & Consulting From the development of the concept to the completion of the last of the finishing touches, Lakeland’s craftspeople stay involved in the construction of your home. We have the knowledge, experience and the plans for log and timber projects of any size. Lakeland Log also provides window and door packages,
roof systems and finish materials as may be required to complete your
log home.
